Winston (October 2019)
Winston (October 2019)

One look at Winston's face and you just have to smile. He is a very handsome little fellow. Winston gets super excited and even "talks" when he is asked if he wants to go out, if he wants to eat, and especially when he greets us at the door. He is enjoying learning to know the neighborhood dogs and people on his walks. Winston is bringing us much joy. We are thankful to CARE and Olivia, his foster Mom, for bringing Winston into our lives.
Luna (September 2019)
Luna (September 2019)

Luna came to us a shy, adorable pup of about 7 months, fostered by Amy, so we knew what challenges we had ahead of us. Through much socialization in the last two years, she has become a great member of our family and neighborhood, always stopping to say hello to other people and dogs big, small, young or old. We celebrate 2 years with Luna on September 30th, and we have all learned to love and trust each other and laugh a lot. Thank you, CARE, for all you do. Luna is one of those special dogs that steals everyone's heart.
Cocoa (September 2019)
Cocoa (September 2019)

We were about to become "empty nesters" as our youngest of three children was heading to college. Knowing our home would be a lot quieter, our friends suggested we adopt a dog to help fill the void. We really wanted a rescue dog, in order to give it an opportunity for a wonderful new life. After looking online via Petfinder, we discovered CARE and inquired about an adorable chocolate lab named Cocoa. We visited her at one of CARE's adoption events in Chapel Hill, and immediately fell in love with her. The adoption process was extremely positive, and we are proud new parents again! Cocoa is a very sweet girl and has already brought such joy to our lives! A BIG thank you to Cocoa's foster mom, Olivia, as well as the entire CARE team!
Zoe (September 2019)
Zoe (September 2019)

I just wanted to shoot y'all an email to let you know how much we love Zoe! She is the perfect dog for our family and is so happy.

She loves playing with the kids, walking them to and from the bus stop each day, and snuggling up on the sofa with me in the evenings. She really is the best dog ever (pics attached to prove it...my daughter is constantly dressing her up, haha!).

She even has a best friend, Polly the pug. Polly is one of my coworker's dogs that we dog sit when she goes out of town. They have so much fun playing, running around and even snuggling up together.

Zoe has been the best thing that has happened to us in the past year. We can't thank y'all enough for choosing us to be her forever home!
Tux (September 2019)
Tux (September 2019)

Sometimes you just know you need to add a special someone to the family. We realized that suddenly one night as we watched Tux playing with another litter of kittens. Tux has raised many kittens in our home. He is one of the best kitty teachers, babysitters, big brother, and cat confidant we've ever known. He's always been a friend to all since the day he began to trust. So, even though "we didn't need another cat," we realized we needed to adopt Tux to help us along with the fostering journey. Being born to a feral mom himself; he "gets it," every life matters. CARE's been so awesome to Tux!
Ollie gets a new home (August 2019)
Ollie gets a new home (August 2019)

I was looking for a second dog and am so glad we found Ollie. It has been a wonderful year. I first noticed Ollie on the CARE website. The picture from CARE was so cute! We then were able to meet Ollie at an event hosted by Phydeaux in Chapel Hill. After completing the screening process, Laura helped us introduce our dog to Ollie. Laura made it an easy transition, graciously sharing her knowledge and expertise as well as a folder of helpful materials from CARE. Ollie has been a wonderful addition to our household. Our two dogs have lots energy and play well together bringing a smile to all who know them. Thanks so much to Laura and CARE for all the work you do helping people and dogs find each other.
Sunny (August 2019)
Sunny (August 2019)

I first saw Sunny on the Care Adoption page, and fell in love with her sweet face. We met her at the next Care gathering, and brought her home several weeks later. She is a busy little girl, and although we are still working on some puppy issues, we love her dearly. She is a terrific addition to our family and best of all, she loves and is loved by our granddaughters!
Obie (August 2019)
Obie (August 2019)

Hi, my name is Obie and sometimes my moms call me Obidiah, so silly huh? I have been with my forever family since May 23, but I've been on so many exciting adventures that I haven't had time to write. Guess what? I have 4 fur siblings, 2 dogs just like me, and 2 Black cats! It is so fun around here playing chase all day and wrestling with my sibs. We get lots of praise and treats, and my moms hold me whenever I want them to! Do you know my moms have a house that is on wheels and they take us to many great places where we get to go on walks and smell so so many different smells. I just love to walk on a leash and my moms say I'm really good at it too! When we do what they call camping we also get to play with other dog friends and next week I am going to meet 2 new friends that live in a place called the mountains. I couldn't be more happy than I am now in my forever home. Thank you Laura and Jessie for raising me to be a good puppy and teaching me how to love and be loved. ❤️Obie
Logan (July 2019)
Logan (July 2019)

Little Mr Logan has brought a bouncing bundle of happiness to my household. He's reminded me how much I love having more than one dog and he's taught my Chi-Weenie, Mila (adopted from CARE 2 years ago), how to play again. He's working very hard to train me and I'm doing pretty good, but I still have a long way to go to get it right ! Thanks to the loving expertise of CARE fosters, Laura and Jesse, Logan is adjusting nicely to his new home.
May (Ava) settles in! (July 2019)
May (Ava) settles in! (July 2019)

We welcomed precious May ("Ava") to our family on May 18th! She has become fast friends with our Shih Tzu, Annie, has made a few trips to the beach (& loves it) and found a place right in the middle of our hearts.' Her wiggles and cuddles are the absolute best.
Relaxin Jaxon (June 2019)
Relaxin Jaxon (June 2019)

For such a short pup, Jaxon, once known as Shrek, is really living large and loving life in Pittsboro, NC.
With a great big fenced-in yard to explore and a willing fur-brother named Harley to romp with,
Jaxon is actually having too much fun. But, as the photo shows, he can relax with the best of them.
Many thanks to Robin and Bill for fostering this little guy.
Callie (June 2019)
Callie (June 2019)

Today is the 4th anniversary of the adoption of our sweet Kallie (Moonlight during her CARE time). She quickly became part of the family and we love every day with her! She loves walks and especially going to the dog park to chase balls and other dogs! She is usually the fastest dog around. She's such a loving girl and we sure are glad we found each other!! Thanks CARE ❤
Boots (June 2019)
Boots (June 2019)

his sweet girl is the best addition to our family. She is so sweet and playful. Her favorite thing is to cuddle with her new owners on the couch or in the bed. It's only been a few days but she is fitting in great. Can't wait to see how this family grows.
Taco - Supreme!!! (May 2019)
Taco - Supreme!!! (May 2019)

My fiancé and I adopted Taco after seeing him online. We instantly fell in love! He's such a good boy, and loves going on walks and playing as much as he loves cuddling up at the end of a long day. We could not be happier with him and the work CARE put into keeping him healthy and happy until we finally found him! Thank you CARE! Taco has made our life so much better!
Pacino Decided Indoors is Best! (April 2019)
Pacino Decided Indoors is Best! (April 2019)

We learned about Pacino, a feral cat that lived outside the shelter, from a volunteer during an adoption event. We were looking for a barn cat to help control the mouse population on our farmette. However, Pacino had other plans for us. Even though he was supposedly feral, he quickly decided that a life on the couch, in our arms, was the right place for him. We don't have our mouser yet, but we do have another family member to love. Thank you CARE for a wonderful match.
Sierra (April 2019)
Sierra (April 2019)

As we were walking through the kennel,(Chatham County Animal Shelter) all of the dogs were jumping up and barking as if to say "pick me". Except for Sierra, she was huddled up against the door and was the only dog not barking. Immediately we fell in love! This lovely princess is the queen of her castle! Although she has dietary restrictions now, she still gets all the organic cookies she can have! You would never guess that she is eight this year, as she still looks and acts like a puppy!
Shadow (April 2019)
Shadow (April 2019)

My husband Chadd and I adopted our dog Shadow a few weeks ago through the CARE system. He is a six year old (or so we think) lab mix and we are SO happy that he has become part of our family. His previous family was no longer able to support him as needed and we saw him on the CARE website as being up for adoption. We are so thankful that CARE was generous enough to list him on the website as needing to find a home. My husband and I have known for a long that we wanted to rescue a dog but we weren't seriously looking until about 2 months ago. I had heard about CARE through a friend and was on the website one night and came across Shadow. I decided to contact CARE and Shadow's previous family about adoption. We were able to set up a meeting to have a meet and greet. Chadd and I decided to sleep on it to see how we felt in the morning. The next day, we could feel that it was absolutely the right decision to adopt Shadow. The remainder of the adoption process was seamless and we so very thankful. Shadow is a great blessing in our lives and we look forward to learning more about life through Shadow.

Pretty Acari (April 2019)
Pretty Acari (April 2019)

Her name was Marni in the shelter, but I decided to rename her Acari, as she reminded me of a tiger who shared that name.

It's been an adventure trying to make sure she's healthy, but I'm happy to say that the eye that made it so difficult for her to get adopted is not causing her any discomfort. It still looks pretty pink some days, but the vet and I are doing our best to make sure she can see and is as comfy as possible.

I can easily say that Acari and I have made each other's lives significantly brighter. She has a seemingly boundless capacity for love and affection, and absolutely loves kisses. There are times when she will press her nose to mine, and just sit there, and purr. She's also a huge fan of my desk, and especially my keyboard. She likes to 'help' while I play video games.

I'm so glad the good folks at CARE took care of her long enough for me to find her. My life is better for having this little one in it, and I plan to make sure the same can always be said the other way around.
Lionel (March 2019)
Lionel (March 2019)

We decided to try adopting a senior dog knowing that they typically do not get adopted as easily. We are very happy that Lionel has come to be part of our family recently. At eight years old he is super sweet and loving! He has never had an accident in the house, rarely ever barks and really appreciates his warm, loving home after a difficult and neglectful earlier phase of his life. He is the easiest dog we have ever brought into our home and we are grateful for his companionship! We also are grateful for Olivia his foster parent that rescued Lionel and nursed him back to health. She was amazing with Lionel and with the introduction and handover to our home which was flawless. We are grateful to CARE and foster parents like Olivia for all they are doing to help animals in Chatham County. If you are looking for a well-mannered, appreciative and loving companion we would highly recommend adopting a senior dog from CARE.
Tater Tot (March 2019)
Tater Tot (March 2019)

Tater Tot!! He's such a wonderful pup with a sweet temperament, playful, and is such a lovebug. He has 'adopted' the red chair as his cozy spot to spend his time until he is ready for play or going for a walk or 'oh my gosh'....a car ride! As soon as one of us sits in the red chair, he is in it too, cuddling so happily. We had been looking for 'just the right dog' for our family for almost a year. Serendipitously, we were in Pittsboro for a street fair and saw the table with C.A.R.E. representatives. They told us of an adoption fair a couple of miles away, so off we went. There was Tater, sitting still and calm in the middle of an outdoor fair full of so much activity--dogs and people milling about. With his adorable pup face and calm temperament, we had found our furry friend! I can't say enough about C.A.R.E. and their loving and professional foster families. The C.A.R.E. acronym says it all. Laura ushered us through meeting Tater and the whole process of adoption. She trained us as new dog owners with as much care and attention as she had trained Tater! We are so appreciative of her patience and effort, with many, many long phone calls full of advice to help us with the transition. Our experience with C.A.R.E. was more than amazing--as is Tater Tot. We feel so lucky. Don't hesitate to contact them!
