Midnight’s Adoption Story

April 21, 2024

We reached out to CARE about adopting Midnight based on his bio. He was described as being a sweet and shy boy, which we thought would be a good fit for our family. We adopted a cat previously from CARE and had a great experience, so we knew that we wanted to adopt through them again.

When we adopted our first cat through CARE, we did a meet and greet first, however with Midnight we were told that he wouldn’t interact with us much on a meet and greet, so moving right to a trial adoption would be best. We agreed and before we knew it Midnight had come to live with us for a trial period. He was very shy at first. He would hide behind objects and wouldn’t come out to visit with us. We would go into his room daily anyway and talk to him to let him know that he was safe with us. Midnight would only come out at night to eat and use his litter box.

Finally, after three weeks, we had a break though and he came out of his hiding spot and allowed me to pet him. After that he started slowly coming out more, though spending most of his time hiding under the couch or bed. After several more weeks, we started to see more of his personality and he was getting along with our other two cats.

He truly is a sweet boy! He loves to cuddle and be petted. But we also learned that he has the cutest meow and is quite vocal. He greets me everyday when I get home from work! He also loves to play. He will carry his toys around the house and is always up for some playtime. He still hides when new people come over and can be a bit skittish when there are loud noises, but now he spends most of his time out in the living area and has become part of the family. Midnight took a lot of time and patience before he felt comfortable, but I find that he was worth the wait and we just love him.
