Pet Spay & Neuter

Lillie’s Fund

CARE’s Lillie’s Fund is a targeted spay and neuter program that assists lower income Chatham County residents to get their cats and dogs fixed for the minimal cost of a $20 co-pay per pet. Periodically, when funding allows, CARE sponsors special no-cost (no co-pay required) spay and neuter campaigns through Lillie’s Fund.

Lillie’s Fund was established in 2006 in memory of Lillie B. Cameron, a long-time CARE volunteer and tireless advocate for making low cost spay/neuter services available for all Chatham County residents.

Who qualifies for Lillie’s Fund?
Lillie’s Fund is available to residents of Chatham County whose total household income is $50,000 or less.

How do I apply for Lillie’s Fund?
Complete a Lillie’s Fund application and return it to CARE along with proof of income and a $20 co-pay for each pet. Applications may be downloaded below. You may also call or email CARE to have an application mailed to you: CARE, PO Box 610, Pittsboro, NC 27312; (919) 542-5757. Once your application, proof of income and $20 co-pay(s) have been received, CARE will send you a spay/neuter voucher for each pet and a list of the veterinarians who participate in CARE’s Lillie’s Fund. When you schedule a spay/neuter appointment with one of CARE’s participating veterinarians, let the vet know that you are a Lillie’s Fund client and that you will be bringing a voucher(s) with you. The voucher covers the cost of the spay or neuter surgery, all needed vaccines, post-surgical pain medications and a microchip (optional). CARE also covers the additional cost of pets who are in heat or pregnant.
